Mission
School mission: Illinois Wesleyan University, a selective national institution, offers a distinctive blend of liberal arts programs with professional and pre-professional study in fields such as music, art, theatre arts, nursing, accounting, and education. Every student's academic program includes a strong liberal arts core. Students are encouraged to work closely with faculty and to pursue multiple interests, including interdisciplinary study and study abroad. An optional, 3-week May Term features travel courses, research, and internships in addition to innovative on-campus courses. An Action Research Center affords students opportunities to earn academic credit while conducting research in the community in cooperation with community partners (primarily local and regional non-for-profit organizations). Academic, residential, and recreational facilities are outstanding, with many buildings constructed or renovated within the past decade. Information technology and library resources are among the institution's greatest strengths.
