Big Picture
The best thing about Auburn is the sense of family and how everyone feels so connected even though there are SO many students. If there was one thing I would change it would be how the non-greeks don't feel as included in the social scene. I think Auburn is just right. There are enough students to continue to meet new friends but it is also small enough that when you are out you can easily see and run into the people that you want to. People are normally pretty impressed when I tell them that I go to Auburn. I spend most of my time on campus in the library or the hill for sorority meetings. The biggest recent contraversy was definitely the safety of the campus after Lauren Burk's death. I think there is a TON of school pride! One experience I will always remember is definitely bid day when I got my bid to Pi Phi!
Academic Life
My favorite class is definitely Micro with Mr. Finck because he is so fun and a great teacher. Students study different amounts and I am in the library a lot for my different classes. Class participation is much more common in smaller classes than in auditorium classes. I would say that the education at Auburn is definitely geared toward getting a job. In my major (business) they offer different courses that have speakers and new people come in to help you get clued in and find out what type of job in that major would be the best match for you.
Student Body
I would say that any student who doesn't fit the ''conservative'' type of personality would feel very out of place. I feel like the group of kids who aren't involved in greek life or sports and that act crazy when they go out would be the most out of place. Most girls wear gym shorts, jeans, or sweatpants with t shirts and guys tend to wear khakis or jeans with tshirts and polos. I don't really see that many different kind of students interacting... Everyone just tends to stay with their own groups of friends. The financial backgrounds are very different because there are so many out of state kids who are paying almost 3 times as much as in state. I would say that students are very politically aware and active and they are mostly on the right side.
The Best Things
Sense of home and family even though there are SO many students
The Worst Things
Not many places to go like Athens
