School mission and unique qualities (as provided by the school):

Anna Maria College, a private, four-year, co-educational, Catholic college, was founded in 1946 by the Sisters of Saint Anne. It is located on a beautiful 192-acre campus in Paxton, Massachusetts just minutes from the vibrant college-city of Worcester, MA with Boston, Providence, and Hartford only an hour away.

AMC is a close-knit community with small class sizes that allow for mentor relationships to develop between faculty and students. Freshmen and sophomore classes generally have between 20 and 25 students; some upper-level classes have as few as five to ten students. Faculty members teach and advise students based on their knowledge of each person as an individual, and classes are never taught by graduate assistants.

AMC offers 40 undergraduate degree programs with popular majors including Art and Art Therapy, Business, Criminal Justice, Education, Fire Science, Health Science, Music and Music Therapy, Nursing, Paramedic Science, Pre-law, Psychology, Social Work and Sport Management. Fifth-year master's options are available in business administration (B.S./M.B.A.), counseling psychology (B.A./M.A.), criminal justice (B.S./M.S.), education (B.A./M.E.), emergency management (B.S./M.S.), fire science (B.S./M.S.), pastoral studies/counseling (B.A./M.A), and visual art (B.A./M.A.). A strategic plan calls for the College to change and enhance its core curriculum and extra-curricular activities to ensure that students have access to the programs and services that will help them develop their mind, body and spirit so that they can become strong leaders in their communities.

An honors program offers high-achieving and motivated students the opportunity to work closely with their professors and take part in study-abroad prorams. Plans are in place to continue the College's popular semester abroad program in Vienna, Austria which is open to all students. A new Student Success Center was launched in 2012 to provide advising, counseling and tutoring services under one umbrella. New residence halls have been added to the campus including a 200-bed, suite style facility and the library is being renovated to become the College's Information Commons where students and faculty can engage in meaningful dialogue and have access to the latest technological resources.

Anna Maria College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the Council on Social Work Education, and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission and is approved by the Board of Registration in Nursing in Massachusetts. AMC is also approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

AMC's NCAA Division III athletic program offers varsity competition for men (baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer and tennis) and women (basketball, cross-country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball). A marching band along with intramural sports are also available to students who do not wish to participate on varsity teams.

Students enjoy a full social life both on campus and within the college-city atmosphere of nearby Worcester. Annual events enjoyed by all students include on-campus concerts, special events, and dances, skating on the College's outdoor rink, alternative spring break service programs, a semi-formal dinner/dance and a Senior Ball. Local attractions include big-name entertainment and minor league hockey at the DCU Center, art and science museums, classical music performances at Mechanics Hall, traveling Broadway shows at the Hanover Theatre, and day and night skiing at Wachusett Mountain.
