Alaska – America’s largest state by land area and one of its smallest by population – is home to few colleges and universities. Alaska Pacific University, a private university, is located in Anchorage, the largest city in the state. The University of Alaska system has campuses in Anchorage, Fairbanks and the state capital of Juneau. Residents of Alaska can attend select colleges and universities in 14 states, including California, Washington and Oregon, through the Western Undergraduate Exchange and pay no more than 150 percent of the in-state tuition rate.
